Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 16, 2026

Welcome to the MissedConnections Privacy Policy. MissedConnections is an app designed to help university students grow their social circles by fostering meaningful and lasting connections. This policy explains how we collect, store, protect, and share your information, and with whom we share it while it is entrusted to us. By using MissedConnections, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH ANY PART OF THIS PRIVACY POLICY OR OUR TERMS OF USE, DO NOT USE ANY OF THE SERVICES.

1. Who We Are

This Privacy Policy (the "Policy") applies to the MissedConnections mobile application and website (collectively the “Services”) owned and operated by Boston Interactive LLC ("we," "us," or "our").

2. Information We Collect or Receive

In the course of operating the Services, we will collect the following types of information:

(a) Information You Provide to Us. When you create an account or use the Services, you provide us with your name and email address to use our Services. You may also choose to provide additional profile information to enhance your experience, such as your biography, priority use statement, graduation year and majors, photographs, social media usernames, and interests.

(b) Geolocation Information. The core features and functionalities of the Services are based on your location. To deliver these features, we collect Geolocation Information from your mobile device. This is used to assign you to a general campus zone if you are on campus or a 100-meter radius if you are off campus for matching purposes.

You can choose how we collect your location:

  • “Check-In” Mode: Your precise location is collected only as a one-time transmission when you manually activate the “Check-In” feature.
  • “Always-On” Mode: If you enable this option, your precise location is collected continuously, even when the App is running in the background on your device.

You may decline to allow us to collect Geolocation Information or change your permission at any time in your device settings, in which case we will not be able to provide the core “MissedConnections” functionalities to you. Changing your device settings can also allow you to choose to only have our services collect your geolocation information while you are using the app, and not while it is closed or running in the background of your device. You can turn off or change what geolocation information MissedConnections can collect by, for iPhone users, going to Device Settings → Privacy → Location Services → MissedConnections.

(c) Other information. In addition to the above categories, we may collect or receive additional information (collectively, “Other Information”). Other information may include:

  • Usage information such as IP address and timestamp, and requested URL;
  • Mobile device details such as device type, operating system, and networking type;
  • Metadata associated with items you share through the Services, including the date, time, or location where a photograph was taken or posted;
  • HTTP requests (including IP address);
  • Customer service information relating to reports you submit or requests you send to the MissedConnections support team; or
  • We also collect any information you voluntarily provide when submitting a report, including reports related to safety or harassment. If you use the chat feature, we collect and store the message you send to other users.

You can access, review, and update most of the information you provide to us by contacting the MissedConnections team through the Services or by emailing us at support@missedconnections.tech.

3. How We Use Information

You authorize us to use the Information We Collect or Receive to:

  • Operate, provide, improve, and personalize our Services, including creating a fuller profile to help you connect with potential friends;
  • Communicate with you about the Services;
  • Understand how you access and engage with the Services;

4. How We Share Information

  • When you use the Services, certain profile details are visible to other users. This includes your first name, username, and any optional information you provide, such as a profile picture, bio, class year, major, or interests.
  • When you become friends with another user, they can see the content you choose to share. Your precise location is never shared with friends or other users. Friends or other users can only see your campus zone or an approximate 100-meter radius when you are off campus.

We share information with third-party service providers to operate and improve the Services. In the event of a corporate transaction such as a sale, merger, reorganization, or dissolution, information may be included as part of the transferred assets.

To the extent permitted by law, we may also disclose Information:

  • When required by law, court order, or other government authority; or

  • Geolocation Information: Precise geolocation data (latitude/longitude) is retained for up to 24 hours from the time of collection to facilitate core functionality. General campus zone match data (approximately a 100m radius, or the approximate building or area where two users were located at some point in the day, is retained until accounts are deleted or users unfriend.
  • Other Information: is kept for the period necessary to operate and maintain the Services.

(b) We may retain information beyond the periods described above if:

  • We must retain it to show compliance with applicable law;

9. Changes to this Privacy Policy

As the Services evolve, we may update or revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of changes by posting the new policy within the Services and by updating the “Effective Date.” We will not make retroactive changes that reduce your privacy rights unless we are legally required to do so. Your continued use of the Services after the Effective Date constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. The amended Privacy Policy supersedes all previous versions.
